Poem-writing activity: Pairs write a constrained poem (specific rules), then perform and vote on the “winner.”
Key understandings reached: - The knowledge of the artist requires some “building” techniques — craft, skill, decision-making — just like an engineer’s - Artistic judgment is not random: it involves (at least partially) objective features of the artwork - means drawing upon features of yourself (taste, feeling) rather than features of the artwork — but this does not make judgment arbitrary
Homework: On the back of your poem paper, draw a piece of art using only geometric shapes. Give it a title (hidden on the back). Rules: it must be meaningful and represent an idea.
